Automated SF2: Daily Attendance Report of Learners

📢 Update: The Automated SF2 for School Year 2026–2027 has been updated and aligned with DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2026, titled Guidelines on the Implementation of the Three-Term School Calendar in Basic Education. This ensures that attendance encoding and reporting are consistent with the revised school calendar structure.

Keeping an accurate attendance record is one of the regular responsibilities of every class adviser. However, preparing monthly totals, attendance percentages, and other required information can become time-consuming—especially when these are calculated manually.

The Automated School Form 2, or Automated SF2, is an Excel-based tool designed to make this task easier, faster, and more organized.

What Is School Form 2?

School Form 2 (SF2) is officially known as the Daily Attendance Report of Learners. It is used by class advisers to record and summarize the daily attendance of learners for a particular month.

The form provides a record of learners who were present, absent, tardy, or had other applicable attendance remarks. It also helps schools monitor attendance patterns and identify learners who may require follow-up or appropriate intervention.

This issuance introduced SF2 as the replacement for the former School Register for Daily Attendance and the Teacher’s Monthly Report of Enrollment and Attendance.

Guidance on the proper preparation and checking of school forms was later provided through DepEd Order No. 11, s. 2018, or the Guidelines on the Preparation and Checking of School Forms. SF2 remains one of the school forms prepared by class advisers as part of official school records.

DepEd guidance for Senior High School also states that the SF2 should be updated daily.

How the Automated SF2 Can Help

The Automated SF2 is designed to reduce repetitive manual computations. Once the required learner information and attendance entries are provided, the workbook can help generate the corresponding attendance summaries.

It can help teachers:

  • Record daily learner attendance in an organized worksheet;
  • Calculate attendance totals more efficiently;
  • Reduce common computation and encoding errors;
  • Prepare monthly attendance information faster;
  • Maintain a cleaner and more consistent class attendance record; and
  • Save time that can be used for teaching, checking learner outputs, and other classroom responsibilities.

Only the fields intended for data entry need to be edited. Some cells containing formulas may be password-protected to prevent accidental deletion or overwriting. This protection is intended to preserve the automated functions of the file.

Important Reminder

The Automated SF2 is a support tool and not a replacement for DepEd policies, official instructions, or the professional responsibility of the class adviser.

Teachers should still:

  • Record attendance accurately and regularly;
  • Review all names, dates, totals, and remarks;
  • Compare the completed file with the latest official SF2 format;
  • Follow any additional instructions issued by their school or Schools Division Office; and
  • Keep learner information secure and confidential.

Official school forms are available to schools through the DepEd Learner Information System.
